4 Fun Watersports Activities for Lake Winnipesaukee Boat Rentals

Lake Winnipesaukee, affectionately known as Lake “Winni,” offers 23 miles of summer fun. If you’re seeking adventure, you’ve come to the right place: those who enjoy the thrill of watersports can be found hitting the lake all season long. You don’t have to be a watersports enthusiast or even a boater to join the excitement – Melvin Village Marina has everything you need for an action-packed day on the water, including watersports packages and boat rentals on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Melvin Village Watersports Packages

If you’re seeking an intro to watersports but don’t know where to start, consider booking a watersports experience with Melvin Village Marina. Our licensed captain will take you out for the day in a Super Air Nautique towboat (we are a Nautique dealer and these boats are also available for purchase in our showroom), stocked with all the equipment you need for the sport of your choice. Prior to starting, the captain will go over safety guidelines safety guidelines and ensure you’re prepped on necessary safety signals. All you need to do is arrive ready to have fun on the water!

Watersports packages are available for tubing, waterskiing, wakesurfing and wakeboarding, and can be booked for groups of up to eight (larger parties can be accommodated for an additional cost). Participants must be at least 18 years old, or have a signed waiver from a legal parent or guardian.

The following are just a handful of ways to make the most of our watersports packages and boat rentals.

1. Tubing

If you’re new to watersports or searching for an activity that everyone in your family will enjoy, tubing is the perfect choice. The only skill involved in boat tubing is hanging on tight while you speed around the lake – and the best part is, you can do it with a friend or family member by your side! Our tubing packages include a tube, a properly fitted lifejacket, a licensed captain and a well-maintained boat. Just meet us at the dock and get ready for an epic ride!

2. Waterskiing

Waterskiing involves gliding on the surface of the water using specially designed skis, while being towed by a boat. Whether you’re an advanced water skier or just starting out, our instructors will tailor the experience to your skill level. We provide all the equipment you need, from two skis and child-safe skis to a single slalom ski.

3. Wakesurfing

Wakesurfing is comparable to actual surfing, except that instead of ocean waves, you’re riding the wave created by a boat. You’ll hold onto a tow rope, then let go when you catch the wave and enjoy the ride! Wakesurfing is great for beginners as it’s easy to learn, and our instructors will help you hone your skills. Trust us, we know this sport like the back of our hand: Melvin Village Marina is proud to host the Winnipesaukee Wakesurf Open every year!

4. Wakeboarding

One of the more challenging watersports, wakeboarding involves riding the wake of a boat while being towed, with your feet strapped to a wakeboard. Although it involves a bit of skill and physical fitness, wakeboarding can be fun – and even addicting – once you get the hang of it. For some, this sport feels intimidating, but our instructors are dedicated to making sure you stay safe and enjoy the experience, whether you’re an expert or beginner.

Drop anchor and relax

Let’s face it, watersports can wear you out! If you and your crew are looking to kick back after your adventure, try visiting one of these great beaches and sandbars. Just drop anchor, put on your favorite tunes, and enjoy the view.

Braun Bay

If you’re looking to make new friends, you’re sure to find it at this popular spot in Moultonborough. It’s not uncommon to see dozens of boats crowded at this spot, with families and groups of friends out on the sandbar having a good time.

Patrician Shores

Also popular on weekends, Patrician Shores in Meredith is a sandbar with a nice sandy bottom. It can be tricky to navigate though, and you’ll want to watch out for big rocks.

Timber Island

The back side of Timber Island in Gilford offers a great, quiet spot for swimming.

20 Mile Bay

A fairly quiet location with a beach and a designated swimming area, 20 Mile Bay has a sandy bottom on the eastern side of the bay.
